So I found this book at the thrift shop and really only picked it up because the main character has my name (which for a name like mine is pretty rare). Anyway, I do read a few young adult books so I can suggest things to my students, usually only historical fiction, but it's not unusual for me to read something like this now and then. It's a cute, though fairly predictable story, about a girl named Brenna who is interested in saving manatees and is able to take a trip to Florida to work with them and the adventures she has. The author does a nice job of infusing facts about manatees into the reading and has information at the end about what young readers can do if they want to get involved in the cause.
