Written in 1972,translated in 1993. Story of a Persian mathematician who astounds Baghdad by his mathematical and logical acumen in the waning years of the Caliphate. Has a sort of lugburious pace, since it really doesn't have a plot, just a series of caliphs and other royalty quizzing the hero. A high schooler into puzzles would definitely like this.
