Doesn't measure up to his others. It was just ok, not great and not a waste of time but fairly disappointing in light of the fact that I enjoyed his others so much more. There were too many devastating events for it to be realistic as well.
Ella Wallace battles to regain her land & her livelihood. Michael Morris weaves another dramatic tale. Sometimes the storyline seems obvious...then Morris adds those unexpected twists taking the reader by surprise! Fast becoming a favorite author! I really love that this author can spin a tale without vulgar language & include characters that reveal true Christian character!
Ella is trying to keep her family's property after her husband disappears and the bank threatens to foreclose. With the help of a mysterious stranger, they work to raise the money needed.
I thought the book was good with a lot of interesting characters. There were so many characters that at times I couldn't keep them straight. I found the book rather sad with World War I, the influenza epidemic and poor Ella who couldn't seem to get a break.
