Ever since reading "The Ra Expeditions," Thor Heyerdahls books have fascinated me. (Somehow, I had missed "Kon-Tiki" and did not read it until much later.) "The Maldive Mystery" is one of a series of books in which he explores the ancient world of the Middle East and Indian subcontinent tracing links to South America and Polynesia. Here in the Maldives he finds traces of multiple peoples and religions that lead back to ancient civilizations in Sri Lanka, in the Indus Valley, in the Himalayan area, and beyond. If you enjoy books about exploration, ancient cultures, and archeology, this book will enchant you.
