Patsyann's memoir was interesting enough, but the way she wrote her life story felt very detached. I didn't realise this was a book about someone's journey toward christianity, but this was still an enjoyable enough read.
Even though I knew I would be reading about a madam I was still very judgmental toward a lot of Patsyann's decisions. She puts a child up for adoption and yet goes on to have more. She states that birth control was for married women becuase back then only married couples wanting to avoid pregnancy would use condoms yet Patsyann was married a lot of the time. She contridicted herself a lot.
Patsyann was educated, involved in the community, and obviously intelligent yet she turned to prostitution. I'm sorry but I believe she had to have known more about what she was getting into than she would have us believe. While reading her story I felt her personality was very hard, and that she had a good sense of how life in the streets was.I feel this book was only OK.
