I really like this one. What made it work, I think, was the heroine Florence. You can only read about so many beautiful, unconventional, spirited heroines until they all start to seem to run together. The plain, spinster sister of vicar, Florence is starchy and even a little holier than thou, but by the end of the book I really wanted her to have a happy ending. She never became beautiful, or even particularly likable, but you can really see how she let love and God change her.

This book felt stilted. The heroine was too good and she came across as fake. I also didn't feel like the hero's character was very well developed either. Disappointing.

Ruth Axtell Morren writes clean, respectful stories that put you in the characters' place, so much so that you feel all of their emotions. As usual, I couldn't put her book down!
