plodded along through the middle but amazing ending. the story of two women and young love. Mainly the story of Collie, the major's daughter, who falls in love with a German POW and struggles between her love for him and the "safe" choice - son of a prominent business owner. Her friend Estelle also falls in love with a more dangerous option - an Indian store merchant - and struggles with her choice between the Indian and a prominent business man and old family friend. Interesting to see the choices they make and how things turn out.
