This book was great! Very suspenseful. Even though it's a pretty fat paperback, I could not put it down and finished it in one afternoon. I'm just mad at myself that it took me almost two years to read it (I've had it on my bookshelf since Jan '04). This book was very well written and I look forward to reading more by this author.

There's nothing all that unusual about the new mailman. Sure, he seems to have come out of nowhere, and he keeps to himsself. And maybe it's a little odd that he already knows everyone's name in town. But that's good, isn't it?

Then again, it's a little strange that he's taken to delivering the mail in the middle of the night. And that he seems to be aware of everyone's weaknesses and secrets. And come to think of it, why is the mailman still smiling when the people on his route are getting obscene letters and pictures...and receiving anonymous threats...and dying one by one?

GOING POSTAL
The suicide of the local mailman has left the residents of this tiny Arizona town shell-shocked. Nothing this bad ever happens here. But it has, and more is on its way. Because there's a new mailman in town, and he's not just delivering the typical bills and junkmail.
For everyone in town, most notably the Albin family, the arrival of each day's mail becomes an anticipated event. The bills have stopped coming, sweepstakes are being won, letters from long lost people are mysteriously arriving. The new mailman has become the town's best friend. Until he brings the bad news, and the killing begins.

This book brings new meaning to the phrase "never judge a book by its cover." This book is one of the most enjoyable books I've ever read. I really liked the combination of gruesome supernatural horror and dark satire and think that sets it apart from most of the stories in the horror genre. It's a quick, fun read that is one of Bentley Little's best.
