There are some unexpected twists in this story, which is what I like about this author - her solutions are not what you'd expect.
The book opens with two well-meaning relatives trying to tame their wild and wayward loved ones by betrothing them - to each other! When we meet our heroine, she is indeed mischievous, and she plans to thwart her would be suitor by switching places with her friend and temporary abigail, Emily.
Funny scenes ensue, and love shows up in unexpected places.

Elizabeth Mansfield, in reality Paula Scwartz, English teacher, is at her witty best in this comedy of errors. The characters are engaging and a bit exasperating. Of course, everything turns out fine in the end, but it is an interesting and entertaining journey to that happy eneding.
