I'm commenting on the audiobook version. I'm doing a tedious craft project where I can't watch TV, so I tried an audiobook. I don't normally enjoy listening as opposed to reading, but this was fine. There's a lot happening although frankly the plot moves along rather slowly, with a lot of repetition as the criminals kill someone, run for cover, kill another person, run and so forth. Listening to it I really noticed all the "he said" "Virgil said" "she said". Lots of choppy sentences, but that suits the story. The narrator doesn't try to vary his voice or accents much, just a little, and I found that worked fine for me. Interesting ending that I was not expecting after reading all the "Prey" novels; I've decided I like Virgil Flowers more than I like Lucas Davenport. Anyway, a typical Sandford book, quick and enjoyable, but in a couple weeks I will have forgotten the plot almost entirely.

I always enjoy the books about Virgil Flowers. He reminds me of someone I know, or maybe someone I knew in the past. Tight plot, tense situation, and he keeps you guessing.
