Audio Review:
Anne Flosnik portrays the early-nineteenth-century world of the Sherbrookes. Winifrede Bascombe, a runaway disguised as Mad Jack, accompanies her aunts to London, where she meets Lord Cliffe, Grayson St. Cyres. When she steals St. Cyress horse, he apprehends her and, of course, discovers her subterfuge and immediately falls in love. Flosniks clipped British vocals are a perfect match to the setting of this story. She introduces readers to St. Cyres, whose aristocratic voice contrasts well with the voices of his servants. As Flosnik projects the passions of her characters, she excels at evenly pacing her narration and including timely pauses that draw in the listener. -- AudioFile
