One of the most beautiful love stories ever written. A man society frowns on and a woman who doesn't recognize her own worth find love while trying to find their own way of fitting in.

Arguably one of the very best Howard books written and a serious fan favorite. Other serial roamnce books are measured against this one. Howard wrote a compelling story that sparked an entire series of Mackenzie men (and one woman).

The start of the Mackenzie stories and one of Linda's best. You will fall in love with the Mackenzies from the beginning.

Wolf Mackenzie is a loner. All he cares about is his ranch and his son. Labeled a half-breed by the townspeople, he chooses to stay up on his mountain -- that is, until a spunky new schoolteacher decides to pay the Mackenzies a visit. And that's when all hell breaks loose. Good book, looks like it will be a good series.

Small town school teacher Mary Elizabeth Potter is determined to talk to 16-year-old Joe MacKenzie and get him to return to school. Driving up MacKenzie's Mountain changes her life. She meets Joe's father, Wolf MacKenzie, a loner that the town has branded a criminal. Mary sees a man who loves his son and wants to live his life in peace. Mary sets out to convince the town and Wolf that he is worth her love.

This story is classic Linda Howard. The characters are wonderful, the story is interesting, and the romance is perfect. Doesn't get any better than this. My rating: 5 Stars.

Mary Elizabeth Potter is a self-appointed spinster with no illusions about love. But she is a good teacher-and she wants Wolf Mackenzie's son back in school. And after one heated confrontation with the boy's father, she knows father and son have changed her life forever.
Still paying for a crime he didn't commit, Wolf Mackenzie has a chip on his shoulder the size of Wyoming. But prime-and-proper Mary Elizabeth Potter doesn't see Wolf as the dangerous half-breed the town has branded him. Somehow she sees him as a good, decent, honest man. A man who could love...
Wolf not sure he-or the town of Ruth, Wyoming-is ready for the taming of Wolf Mackenzie.

This book confused me in the beginning. Based on the characters actions and appearance I thought this was a historical romance novel. But it was modern enough to have cars. The main character does an about face and seems to be a different person. Fortunantly the story became progressively better and the end was great. I almost didn't get past the first ten pages.
