A colorful story about life in a large family. This bestseller has been referred to as "a contemporary CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN meets the Kennedys."
Great stories of an interesting family.
I enjoyed the book--the intertwining and unfolding of family lifewjich is simultaneously healthy and unhealthy. Kept me interested
I searched for this book based on a review that said it was loosely based on the author's life. The stories are well-written and contain a depth that is not often found in short stories. I enjoyed reading every single chapter - but because of the shifts in narrator I never developed an affinity for any one character. Without that little "falling in love" I didn't connect with the story as much as I would like. I ended up feeling as directionless as the children did on the last page.
I'm anxious to try her sister Eliza Minot's book "The Tiny One" for additional insight into the characters.
