Ann Rule does a great job of detailing the crimes of sexual deviant Brudos as he escalates from stealing women's undergarments off clotheslines to raping his victims' lifeless bodies repeatedly. His crimes are so demented that even seasoned detectives (and true crime readers!) blanched at the things Brudos had done to his victims and his lack of remorse when confessing to them.

This was an alright true crime novel. Jerry Brudos was very creepy indeed, however, I was glad that it didn't take too long to send him to prison since he pretty much admitted to his crimes up front after he was caught. I felt a bit sorry for his wife Darcie because she was so old-fashioned and couldn't stand to file for divorce earlier on in their marriage, and also for the fact that she had to stand trial for being a possible accomplice to her husband's crimes. I'm still not sure I would have allowed a boob paperweight to be on display for my household though!

One by one the young women vanished without a trace....
Pretty Linda Slawson disappeared while trying to make a living selling encyclopedias door to door.
Lovely college girl Jan Whitney never completed her two hour drive home on the freeway.
Beautiful pre-med student Karen Sprinker failed to show up for a lunch date with her mother.
Stunningly attractive Linda Salee dropped out of sight while her boyfriend waited and worried for hours.
By then the pattern was clear. Oregon massive police search was under way. But not even Lt. James Stovall, the brilliant investigator in charge, suspected how grisly the crimes were--- or who the man who killed like a sadistc monster would turn out to be...
ONE OF THE MOST TERRIFYING TRUE-CRIME STORIES OF OUR TIME!
It kept me wanting to know what was next.

This book, in my opinion, is the best Ann Rule book I have read so far. Wow! Talk about horrific! Jerome Brudos was one sick puppy! Ted Bundy and Gary Ridgeway were absolutely terrifying in their own right, but Jerry Brudos was horrific! I won't give away the story but I would never want to meet him in a dark alley, that's for sure. By seeing his picture, he doesn't look like a killer, he just seems like the guy next door.

Very chilling tale of mass murder in Oregon in the late 60's. Jerry Brudo was a man without a conscience. Ann Rule paints a vivid picture of the horrific crimes he commits. Good read!

Made me become more aware of my surroundings. You never know "what" may be lurking around the corner, or down the street in your own neighborhood! Ann Rule puts you there as though it were taking place right before your eyes. Scary stuff.
