A juicy (and at times a bit overly sensational) overview of the "question" of sex in Buddhism from the Buddha's time up until the time of the early Zen masters in Japan. It is a fairly graphic book, both in descriptions and in the reproductions of Buddhist erotic art. It does a great job of covering the early and middle history of Buddhism, but lacks anything to tie it into current Buddhist attitudes about sex and sexual morality and the final chapter seems a bit sparse and abrupt. However, it's still an interesting and entertaining read. The book also has extensive endnotes, bibliography, and a decent glossary for those wishing to look into the source material on their own.
