From the back cover: The faculty and students at Balaclava Agricultural College thought that whoever turned the horseshoes upside-down in the stables didn't really mean to bring bad luck--until the college's prize sow Belinda is pignapped, and gentle Martha Flackley, the college farrier, is found murdered in Belinda's mash feeder.
Professor Peter Shandy and his bride Helen are plunged into the puzzling mystery where there are too many clues, too many suspects, and too little evidence. Could the Vigilante Vegetarians be behind Belinda's theft? Who else would leave a pork chop and ham sandwich behind after committing the crime? Why did the president's daughter go into seclusion after the murder? For Balaclava College, it would be a spring festival of surprises and danger before this mystery is cleared up.

Great mystery. charlotte Macleod is an author you need to discover if you haven't yet.
What can I say. I'm a Macleod fan - especially in her more zany mysteries - and this is definitely zany.
