Ophaned at a young age with no memory of her past, Danny was taken under the wing of a group of thieves. When Danny is banished from her gang because she helped handsome Rakehell Jeremy Malory steal back the jewels his friend lost in a card game, Danny demands that Jeremy give her a job. She is determined to change her life and become respectable in order to fulfill her dream of marrying and starting a family. Intrigued by her beauty and spunk, Jeremy hires Danny as his upstairs maid, although he intends to make her his mistress.
Jeremy, who was introduced in the first Malory book as a smart mouthed sixteen year old, has finally got his own book. He is now 25 year old and considered quite a catch by the ladies of the Ton. Like his father, uncle, and cousin before him, Jeremy has no plans to settle down. But when he meets Danny, he finds he has met his match. She may have started out as a pickpocket in the London slums, but she wants to make a life for herself and be no man's mistress.
This is an entertaining addition to the Malory series. Although the plot is predictable and we know that eventually Danny will discover her past, I still enjoyed this book. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

What can I say it's another JOHANNA LINDSEY great!!the Mallorys are back in this one..
For 15 years, Danny has been living with a group of orphan thieves, masquerading as a boy, but now, thanks to one highborn rogue, she has lost the only home she's ever known. Determined to make Jeremy Malory pay for trapping her into stealing back his friend's family heirlooms, Danny coerces Jeremy into giving her a respectable job as his new upstairs maid. Jeremy would rather that she become his mistress, but all he can convince her to do is pretend to be his new romantic interest in order to save him from a marriage-minded heiress. While Jeremy and Danny indulge in their little game of seduction, Danny is recognized by the man who killed her parents and thought he had also done away with their young daughter. Best-selling Lindsey returns to her Malory family series after a 13-year hiatus with a terrific tale about a wickedly seductive hero and a wonderfully unconventional heroine, infusing this fairy-tale-like love story with a dash of danger in a successful bid to please readers who like witty and sinfully sensual Regency romances.

This is a great book, I will read more of hers.
Wonderful!
Loved this character and watching her change from a disguised boy to a woman.
Jeremy Malory needs a thief to steal back some jewels. He finds one in the slums of London. What he doesn't know is that the young thief he has chosen is not a lad...but a girl dressed as a lad. They are thrown together and through circumstances she becomes his maid. She is not the usual kind of female. Having disguised herself as a male for so many years she has seen the male side of things. She can think as a male. Startling! In helping her to better herself he becomes enchanted with her.
Someone has found out where she is. Someone who knows who she really is. She doesn't even know who she really is. The plot thickens.

When Jeremy Malory hires Danny, a young woman who grew up on London's streets disguished as a boy, as his upstairs maid, he secretly intends to make her his mistress. But Danny surprises him with her dreams of becoming a refined lady and a gentleman's wife. As she transforms from urchin to elegant beauty before Jeremy's eyes, she unwittingly captivates the charming scoundrel. Now high society tongues are wagging: Who is this mysterious newcomer, and what is the truth about her past? No matter that a life-long adversary will go to any lengths to ensure Danny's downfall, Jeremy, who vowed never to succumb to matrimony, finds his resolve weakening as he pursues a woman whose strong, passionate nature rivals his own and promises the kind of challenge a Malory man can't resist.
Good story, unexpected ending.

Cute story of a girl with amnesia who was born to a wealthy family but grew up a street orphan.
This is another in the Mallory series. This one is about Jeremy who is James son. He finds Danny, who is a young woman dressed as a boy and hires her as his upstairs maid. A must if you enjoy Johanna Lindsey!

Lindsey's formula for bestselling historical romance features modern-thinking heroes and heroines in old-fashioned clothing, who meet in scenes reminiscent of favorite classics-and who then jump into bed with an enthusiasm that would make the authors of said classics blush. Her latest Regency picks up the Malory series (Gentle Rogue, etc.) after a long hiatus, to focus on Jeremy Malory. Raised a pirate but now enjoying the Malory fortune, socially prominent but streetwise Jeremy meets his match in Danny, a beautiful orphan with no memory of her past, who lives dressed as a boy with a group of London pickpockets. After catching her trying to rob him in a sketchy tavern, he promises to release her only after she breaks into the country home of a dastardly nobleman who cheated Jeremy's friend out of precious family heirlooms. Jeremy goes along for the ride, and when they're caught in the act, it takes Danny's quick wit and Jeremy's steady nerve to escape. Oliver Twist becomes Pygmalion as Danny becomes a maid in Jeremy's household and later tries to pass as a highborn lady to help her master escape the clutches of a scheming heiress. Of course, Danny has more in common with highborn ladies than she realizes, and the reader knows that eventually Danny will learn who she is and uncover the evildoer who stole her birthright. The fun of this costume drama, after all, is not in guessing what happens next but in knowing what will and savoring the anticipation. Lindsey brings nothing new to the mix, but she stirs it up with so much energy and spirit that it's hard not to find it delicious.
I love all her books. Greta author and stories. Highly recommened.
This was the first Johanna Lindsey novel that I read about two years ago. The story and the main characters still stick with me. It's a Malory novel about James Malory's son Jeremy and a girl named Dani. She has been raised on the street's of London and is a pickpocket. She can't remember her past. Jeremy eventually hires her as his maid and they become lovers. He helps her uncover secrets from her past. It's been two years, but I remember liking the Malory clan and enjoying this story.

Good. Woman who grew up on the streets is hired as a maid and finds her true identity.
love this book, dani is fiesty and determined to do it alone, and be sucessful but she isnt aginst alittle well deserved black mail to get her on the right path. jeremy is from the streets and the smarter for it and shows an amazingly tender side to his mostly rough and seductive side. and the family is all there of course and the story is not complete without them .
love it...i love her Malory series!
Loved the story. I will put this on my list of re-reads.
I love the Malory Family and get excited whenever a new one comes out.

So I absolutely love the Malorys, but this wasn't one of my favorites. This one is about Jeremy and Danny. I have loved Jeremys character in previous books so I was looking forward to his story and also seeing more of James who is my favorite character. All in all not bad, but I think Lindsey has been leaving me dissapointed with some of the later Malory novels, this being one of them. James has been being portrayed in a light now that dosen't originally match the old James I originally fell in love with. Jeremy was great, but the story just wasn't the best. I've been wondering if Lindsey has even been writing some of the more recent Malory novels. They lack something some of the first ones had. I would definately say read it if you love the Malorys, but don't expect it to be as good as Regina, Tony, James or even Amys story.

A twist on the historical romance. Danny is a bit rough around the edges, but Jeremy Malory (Malory Series) is not of the first water either...a fun page turner.
Regency romance - Jeremy Malory hires Danny, who disguises herself as a boy, as an upstairs maid. She dreams of becoming a lady, & unwittingly captivates him. But there is a life-long enemy who is trying to kill Danny while she is trying to find out who she is.
This book is a good read. I like Lindsey's style and it is true to her style.
I enjoyed reading this book very much.
Can a high spirited beauty, with a shadowed past, win the heart of a charming rogue...and then keep him?
