FROM B&N:

Ruby Dee is a startling beauty hired to attend to the invalid patriarch of a remote farm. Upon arriving, she is met by the man's two sons, Lonnie and Will. Considering her too young, Will is certain Ruby will leave. Yet the loving caretaker has a gift for bringing things back from the brink of death, a gift that revives the patriarch's spirits and Will's heart as well.

One of Curtiss Ann Matlock's earlier books -- set in Oklahoma. Ruby Dee's positive outlook brings a father and his two sons together emotionally for the first time in their lives, but with some heartache to Ruby Dee. Strong characters, captivating story line. I will remember this one.
