The first few pages are very funny. Ysolde is sweetly sarcastic - very humorous especially when she is sparring with Baltic.

The writing is rather disconcerting as it seamlessly jumps from present to past. So seamless in fact, that you don't even realize it until 2-3 paragraphs have passed and you go wait a minute wasn't she Tully a second ago. I kept having to backtrack to figure out what was going on. And forget about the sarkany, it seemed like everyone had ADD. No one could keep their mind on the meeting with all the food and whatnot available. Very funny story and Baltic really isn't the bad guy like everyone thinks.

I have mixed feelings about this one. Overall the story was good, the banter between the characters was humorous, and I was kept interested in how it would all be resolved. But the writer must have ADD, because the story was all over the place and I am not just talking about how she kept switching between time periods (often without any warning she was doing so). There were issues introduced but not resolved and then never mentioned again, things in the past were alluded to but not explained, and there was not a good background given on many of the secondary characters even though they were part of the story throughout the book. Worst, the story was not resolved in the end. Apparently this first book was only a teaser to get you to read the next one. Which I will admit I intend to do mostly out of frustration and curiousity. But I do not recommend this author and will avoid any other book written by her.

I really did not care for the back description of this book, and frankly with all of the reviews of her Steam punk novel, I thought Macalister was losing her touch. But of course I was wrong~! Macalister really surprises in turning the arch-nemesis of dragons into a romantic. Quite an enjoyable read~!

This book is more like a seriously long prologue than anything else. It sets up the characters and gives a background that is a set-up for the next book in the series. It doesn't quite feel like she phoned in the book, there was effort put into it, but it was a LOT longer than it needed to be.

3.9 stars. First on the Light Dragon series. This is a spin off of her Asiling Grey series. Several characters from that series makes an appearance, tying the story together. Jim the dog/demon is back, and he is as funny as ever. This book picks up were Me and My Shadow ends.
Tully has a somewhat normal life as an apprentice mage. She is married and has a son she loves dearly. She suffers from dreams that are incredibly realistic and frightening. She is dragged into the Dragon world where she is accused of being a wanted dragons mate (Baltic) and therefore charged with his crimes. The problem is she has black holes in her memory. They must have her confused with somebody else, but these dreams keep haunting her. She struggles to brings her life together while trying prevent further disastrous complications for the dragons.
It is a nice fast and entertaining read. I will continue with the series. It did end in a cliffhanger, be warned.

I thought this was a very good book. Macalister continues her dragon series and I found this to be a great read from beginning to end. Just FYI...it is best if you read her Aishling Grey series & the Silver Dragon series first since they reference back to those books often.

What a horrible book. Didn't MacAlister have any help from her publisher or proofreaders?? I have read the previous stories, but this disjointed presentation was a waste of time. I usually keep her books, but will trade this one away because it was an awful read.

I am starting out by saying I really love Katlie MacAlister's dragon series books. This one is a little disjointed, but I really like this additional background info on some of the characters from her previous other dragon books. I recommend reading this series of books after you read her AISLING GRAY Guardian series. You get to be introduced to a the dragon secs in those books.
