ISBN 0786808985 - Printed in China. No age range stated. Board book, 10 pages. Published by Hyperion Books for Children in 2002. By Roberta Brown Rauch, illustrated by Susan Jeffers.

Little Bear ventures into the autumn wind and rain and hears their songs, again and again.

There's something weirdly hypnotic to me about this book. There's only one rhyme and it is not the smooth, flowing type. It's awkward and messy, but so is the entire text, and it all kind of makes me think of taking a slow walk, lazily kicking leaves. If that makes no sense to you, you'll have to read it to see if I'm crazy or correct. The illustrations wonderful! You can almost feel the rain and wind and the image of Little Bear, standing in the rain with his umbrella at his side and his nose defiantly skyward is worthy of framing. The board pages are nice for small fingers to manipulate and will take some abuse, plus they're glossy so sticky fingerprints wipe away easily. I love this book, without a reason that I can easily articulate, and I think I feel about it the way that Little Bear feels about the wind and the rain.
