Amateur sleuth China Bayles is a former lawyer who now runs an herb shop and keeps getting involved in solving local murders. In this one, a retired Texas Ranger is found dead, shot by his wife's gun.
This was a great book. Rather sad at times, but still excellent. China Bayles Mystery #6
Number 6 in the series:
Expecting a surprise in the form of a marriage proposal on Valentine's Day, China Bayles gets a shock instead when her lover, Mike McQuaid, is shot.

One of the better ones in a long time in this series. Complex. Well worth reading.
I LOVE this series. I have read them out of order, but have enjoyed each one I have read. I can't wait to finish them all. A quick read but very enjoyable.
I thought this one was just OK. It got a little confusing at times with the "Ranger" stuff and I found myself annoyed with China about 3/4 of the book.
Very suspenseful. I think this was the best yet in this series!
This series just keeps getting better! I really felt that China has made a LOT of progress in her life, and relationship with McQuaid. Great plot twists and turns- hard to put down!
A China Bayles Mystery. Texas Ranger, Roy Adcock has been shot dead -- with his wife's gun!
Another great book with china Bayles
This series is set in the scenic Texas Hill Country.
They are a great light read.

Another excellent "Cozy" mystery.
