This book shows what one can accomplish no matter what the reason behind it are. The main character in this story is faced with some life changing tasks & she finds that she make it when all things are against her. She finds a new life & love, along the way of course she runs into some obstacles but she perserveres & ends up with the life of her dreams. Shows what love, family & friends can help you through when things look like there is no way out.

Loved it.....Didn't want the story to end.....Would like to see another book with these characters & life beyond this book.

This review is from: Love Finds You in Golden, New Mexico (Paperback)
Every experience I've had so far with the Love Finds You series has been excellent, but I honestly can't say that about this latest book featuring Golden, New Mexico. Truthfully, the book started out great. I felt a connection with the characters at first, especially Madeline's plight of being forced to marry a man she hates. I also loved the Sneeds, and their genuine attempts to see Madeline come to no harm. But when the story changed from being completely set in Golden vs. Golden and Boston, I started to lose interest. It seemed that the same thoughts from Madeline and Jeremiah were just churned over and over again. In addition to that, the story was just too predictable.

Readers that enjoy Janette Oke or a simple, sweet romance with a small hint of danger would enjoy this book. Unfortunately, it wasn't my cup of tea.

Loving historical Christian romance and the ever-popular mail order bride scenario I decided to try Lena Nelson Dooley's 'Love Finds You' series and began with Golden, New Mexico. I found it delightful.
Dooley did an exceptional work in developing the scene in Boston as well as Golden. The reader could easily visualize both places as Dooley describes them.
Character development was exceptional. I found myself grieving with Madeline, seeking solutions with the Sneeds, cheering for Phillip and pulling for Jeremiah.
The role of the villain, Mr Johnston, whose role is to marry Madeline and steal her wealth, is a bit overdone. It simply did not flow as well as the other parts of the splendid story.
I appreciated the opportunity to contrast Boston's wealthy and their destitute. Madeline's response was commendable. Taking the role as mother to a newborn orphan while in the midst of her dire situation reflected Madeline's Christ-like heart.
The author was able to show a variety of Christians and the role faith played in each of their lives. I loved that she did not cookie cut the part faith played in their lives. Instead each character was able to stand on its own and show the Christian life lived out in different personalities and situations.
There were only two parts I found a bit hard to believe. One was when Johnstone showed up in Golden, New Mexico and was placed in jail only to be forgiven and sent on to run the business. The other was the timing of Pearls grandparents coming to Golden. It seemed as if that was thrown in at the last minute and just didnt fit.
Other than that it was an excellent read!

This book is about Madeline Mercer who grew up in a wealthy loving home. When her father dies, a man is trying to force her to marry him. She also has a friend who is not doing well and is pregnant.

An old man named Philip wants to get married, so he writes an ad in the paper in hopes of finding the right woman. He truly believes God will help him choose. His friend, a rancher named Jeremiah helps him write the ad. Jeremiah doesn't know what God has to do with anything. He thinks the whole thing is a bad idea.

When situations occur that cause Madeline to show up in Golden, New Mexico, Jeremiah is suspicious of her and thinks she is out to steal his friend's fortune.

I liked this book's openness about God and the importance of forgiveness and not passing judgement on someone without truly getting to know them. A lot of the Love Finds You books have only slight mention of God or prayer, but this one had it throughout it. I thought it was well written, though I think it was far too predictable. I knew what was going to happen from the beginning of the story, so there were not many surprises. Also the problems in the book were always easily situated and solved. Therefore I am not rating it higher, though I did enjoy it!

I do believe this is by far my favorite of the Love Finds You in... books I've read so far. Had all the things I like to read about: American west, mail-order bride, and orphan child(ren). I don't think I can add anything to what the other reviewers have stated. Highly recommend!
