It is nothing short of tragic that this book is out of print. I borrowed it from the library years ago, and have wanted to own it ever since. Busbee knows how to keep her readers on the edge of their seats in breathless anticipation. She paints her scenery vividly in the minds of her audience, and her characters come to life on the page. Definitely worth reading!

The usual romance but a good story line and the romance is not over done.

A story of the building of large estates and the destruction of them following the Civil War then the rebuilding of lives and fortunes. Also a story of an orpaned girl who finds compassion in her father's old friend and love with his son. Love wins in the end.
