Great book with some real history thrown in. Both the lead characters aren't who they seem to outsiders and initially they also fool each other (they're both acting as Loyalist spying for the Patriots as the Revolutionary War starts to ferment).
Dear Ms. Sparks,
I am so glad you started writing your "Love at Stake" vampire romance novels because this one was not very good. Very little spying, half-hearted romance, and the plot was written much better in "The Scarlet Pimpernel." Quin is an un-convincing fop, and really just too down on himself the whole book. Virginia has some interesting backstory, but not enough to make her a strong character. Plus, I hated how everyone was always rushing off places, or stumbling into the parlor unannounced.
Thank you for all the awesome vampires - you have really clever plots, characters that are neat to learn about, strong women, and really cool views on vampirism in general. Please don't write a historical romance again.
Sincerely,
Tess
