Ms Oke never lets the reader down. This was her usual well written story and most enjoyable.
I enjoyed this book quite a bit. I'd come across the movie version of it on tv a while back and hoped it would be as good. Oddly, I liked the movie better (a very rare thing indeed)!! However, the story is very engaging, the characters likeable, the prose is simple and no frills but conveys the emotions felt exceptionally well. A young widow stranded out west is offered a home by a complete stranger in exchange for being a needed mama to his toddler. It is chaste, frontier love, and reminded me very much of the Little House On the Prairie stories. An enjoyable read for when you might need non-taxing comfortable reading.
