My first Lynsay Sands historical romance and it was very good. Clarissa is an extremely likable character and you just can't help but like Adrian too. Both characters learn early on in the book that they wanted to be together and had to sneak around Clarissa's stepmother Lydia in order to see each other. Clarissa is mostly blind without her glasses and her stepmother refused to let her wear them. This leads to a series of unfortunate accidents caused by poor Clarissa. She becomes infamous for her unfortunate accidents and pretty much shunned by the Ton. Adrian is not swayed by others opinions and asks her to dance at a ball.
Adrian is a semi-tortured hero (not filled with anguish but still extremely self conscience about his war wound that marred his face) and Clarissa is a mistreated lady. They are destined to be together. But what happens if Clarissa's accidents aren't really accidents?
I recommend this book if you like historicals and like a little fun in your books. Overall you will find that this book was just sweet and you will definitely pick up another historical by Sands.

A rare treat ... a romance that certainly doesn't take itself too seriously. This one had me literally laughing out loud. Great fun.

Sweet regency from Lynsay Sands. I don't think the author is at her best in historicals; HOWEVER, I do love her sense of humor and this is a very enjoyable read. The heroine, who is near blind without her glasses (and whose stepmother won't let her wear them), is charming in her ineptitude. The war-scarred hero is perfect for her (though he adds to her troubles in his persistent belief that she won't love him if she sees his scars, which of course she's already seen - she's nearsighted, not blind!). Lynsay Sands never fails to deliver characters I actually like and wouldn't mind getting to know!

This book is hysterical from start to finish! My favorite part was the fire in her room...and what happens afterwards.

This book was very fun. I laughed a lot. The tiny words under "Love is Blind" say "or it should be . . ." I definitely recommend this book.

A little aggravating, definitely silly, and absolutely schlocky. But definitely a pleasant book for long visits to the bathroom or when insomnia strikes.
Adrian was scarred in battle and has been self aware of his facial scar ever since. It didn't help that people pointed it out and made fun of him right after the injury. He was called a freak. Clarissa is blind without her glasses. Her stepmother took them away because she thought they made her unattractive and she is trying to marry her off. As a result of not being able to see, Clarissa has accidents (mistaking someone's lap for a table, setting a hairpiece on fire). She was also kidnapped when she was younger and there was a scandal revolving around that.
This was slow moving at first, but picked up about 1/2 through. I did like the mystery element (was someone trying to hurt Clarissa? And were some of her accidents- falling down the stairs for example, really accidents?). Overall this is a nice story about 2 people who are perfect for each other, but take some time to realize it.

A must read.
I just finished this book. He had a facial scar and she was supposed to wear wore glasses It was a re read for me. The first time I read the book I was caught up in the mystery plot and quickly read on to see what happened. After re reading this book, I see there are some hilarious moments for Clarissa and her Earl. A light hearted fun read. Suzanne
It was nice, easy read.
This is a keeper for me. After reading many angst-ridden novels, it was refreshing to read a novel full of humour. I
I loved this book. Thes characters have flaws and insecurities that beset all of us, but I laughed out loud as I read it and the things that happened because she did not have her glasses on were funny, but she was able to laugh at herself and that made her very likeable. He was insecure because of a scar and was afraid she would not want him if she could clearly see him and that just made him more likeable. You will truly enjoy this book. It also contains a little mystery because someone is trying to kill the heroine...
It was a cute book, I really like the way she mixes romance with a bit of comedy
"Clumsy" Clarissa is charming as she wins the love of Adrain Montfort, Early of Mowbray, who was injured during the war. Good Regency.
Light, fluffy, sweet read. Not a keeper.

From Back Cover: There's Many a Slip...He'd been warned that Lady Clarissa Crambray was dangerous. Stomping on toes and burning piffles, the chestnut-haired beauty was clearly a force with which to be reckoned. Bur for Adrian Montfort, Earl of Mowbray, veteran of the Napoleonic Wars, this was just the challenge he needed. He could handle one woman and her "unfortunate past". Could any woman handle him? 'Twixt the Chit & His Lips...Lady Clarissa Crambray wanted a husband, but maybe not as much as her stepmother wanted one for her. Really! Doffing her spectacles might make a girl prettier, but how would she see? She'd already caused enough mayhem to earn a rather horrible nickname. Yet, as all other suitors seemed to shy away in terror, there came a man to lead her to the dance floor. A dark handsome blur of a man. Clumsy Clarissa was about to stumble into true love.
