Finished this last night. I didn't mean to -- I just couldn't put it down. Card is my favorite author, and I love almost everything he's ever written. In this book, Danny is a teenager from the North family, a family descended from the Gods (think mythology) who have been stranded on earth when Loki (the trickster and great gatemage) closed all the gates between Westil (Olympus) and Mittelgard (Earth). Having a fascination for but not really being versed in mythology, I found this to be quite interesting. One of my favorite things about Card is the universes he creates. 5 stars.

An excellent beginning to, what seems, will be a really fantastic series. I loved Danny, the main character. Loved the combination of humor and adventure in this novel. There are a lot of interesting directions in which this series can go, and I can't wait to find out what the author comes up with!

I'll definitely be reading more.

A solid entry from one of the best SF authors. I found the major plot line very engaging but was less engaged with the secondary plotline. Still, looking forward to a sequel.
