I want to get this out first. This was one of the most horribly written books I have ever had to read. The content was good, however I'm not sure this book ever saw an editor or was proof read. Talk about being all over the place. On once sentence he is talking about something that happened when he was 5 and then in the next he's 14. All throughout the book it went like this. Sometimes it would get confusing as to what age he was in or exactly what situation was going on. At times it was confusing to whome he was talking about at times. It's a shame because this book had a lot more potential. I would suggest that before you read this book you should read "Stolen Innocence" by Elissa Wall, "Escape" by Carolyn Jessup, and 'Church of Lies" by Flora Jessop to get the full detail of what was going on among the FLDS.

What happened to this man was atrocious and should not have happened. I may not have enjoyed how the book was written, but my heart goes out to this man and what he had to go through. One of the most important things he did talk about was the cult mentality of the members and how someone could actually get caught up and believe all the garbage that was being thrown at them. I normally don't judge others religion, but when it comes to hurting the members and committing unspeakable acts is when I have something to say. Warren Jeffs is beyond disgusting. For what he did, he should never ever see the light of day literally. I think a dark cell with no light is too good for that piece of garbage. Anyone that still follows him should receive the same treatment as well.

Brent Jeffs is a brave young man. Unbelievable what he endured as a child in the FLDS.
This book is a testament of courage and resilience and faith; but not the oppressive, backward faith of cults like the FLDS. True faith.

Crap. I forgot to write the review when I was finished this. Those who know me well know my memory. All I can say is this is worth reading. It's a good book, tells a lot about the community where [author:Brent W. Jeffs|2867694] grew up. I'd recommend reading it in addition to some other memoirs, authors like [author:Carolyn Jessop|427437], [author:Elissa Wall|1169791], etc.
What Warren Jeffs did to Brent is atrocious and the fact that this man lived through all of it, and what came afterward as a direct effect of Jeffs' actions towards Brent's family is amazing.
It's really, really, really, (throw a few more in if you'd like) hard for me to imagine how people buy this crap. I believe in God while not being "crazy" about it. I don't believe my God is more important than anyone else's, nor do I believe my God is the only God. Who am I to say that? That's not faith. That's a joke.
But to believe that one man is the mouthpiece for God? Come the hell on. Here, give ME all of your money, your houses, your kids, and everything else and I'll tell you one day, all of a sudden, that red is reserved for God and no one else can have anything red too. Come on, gimme da loot! (RIP Biggie
I mean, seriously, how does one believe this? I've read (and rated highly) the memoirs but I'm not getting it. These people are so needy that they're allowing their children to be shunned, abused, and murdered. Is that faith? If it is I don't want it. You can have it.

This is a story of one young man who happens to be the nephew of Warren Jeffs, and was instrumental in bringing charges of sexual abuse against him.

What makes this book unique is that he describes WHY the FLDS choose pologomy, and what their TRUE religious beliefs are. This fact is white-washed on the TV shows, most other books, and any public appearances.

The book is definately written by a novice, and the story jumps around; however, it contains a world of information not available elsewhere and worth the time it takes to read it.
