I got this for the Amy Sandas story. I did read a few of the stories.
One Snowy Christmas Eve: (3*)
Evie and Colin were lovers until Evie left for medical school. Now Evie is back home and has taken over her mentor's practice. However, being a female doctor means people really don't trust her and she is struggling to keep the practice. It took Colin time to see she was competent (despite being super sick) and just as good as a guy. Colin also took time to realize he was only thinking of himself and not taking in what Evie would want. Overall a decent 2nd chance love story in the very early 1900s. This is clean. No sex, no foul language, references to God.
Through the Storm: (4*)
George is the 2nd son of a titled family from Scotland who does something stupid and in the process his best friend is killed. While it was an accident, he was blamed for it (due to the deceased being the heir to a dukedom). He leaves for the US to spare his family additional hardship/scandal. Lucy is the daughter of a reclusive trapper and his Native American wife (who left him). Lucy is alone, her father having died a few years ago. Lucy is competent and doesn't take bullshit. George is offered shelter in her cabin while a blizzard raged outside. They get to know each other and feelings develop. I think this could be part of her new series (a Western one) that I haven't started yet. Good pacing with a beginning, middle, and end.
