"It's a Long Story: My Life" by Willie Nelson was given to me by my brother-in-law. He thought I might enjoy it. He was right. I did. While I've never been a huge Willie fan, I have a respect for his music and his artistry. I was supposed to see him in concert a couple years back but my dad passed away so I missed the opportunity. Last year, Willie was ill. This summer? Who knows, maybe third times a charm.
Willie's autobiography tells of how he started in music, his years on the road, and all the antics in-between. Some tales are filled with humurous details, others vague and ethereal - just the way you would expect memories of an 85+ year old to be.
Easy read - just like sitting with an old friend on the front porch sipping lemonade, or maybe whiskey, or maybe sharing a joint. [4/5]

I understand the man a lot more after reading his memoir.
