One of the better and more thought-provoking in the series- focuses on issues that parallel today's headlines. I always enjoy the Thomas and Charlotte Pitt novels.

This book was almost like reading the newpaper in 2006. It has the same political and moral dilemna's that are present today.
Charlotte and Thomas Pitt and their allies and friends are at it again. Their collaboration and intelligence and insight into the human experience overcomes and defeats evil. A really good read.

another intriquing victorian mystery with thomas and charlotte pitt. if you have read these characters before you will not be able to put this novel down. if you have never read about these characters start!! you will not be disappointed.
A great historical mystery, Anne Perry is noted for detail and accuracy regarding her setting. She's also known for a good read and according to the Seattle Times this is "Anne Perry's Best."

Another good Anne Perry Mystery

Even though the social/political issue of the day took center stage, the mystery kept on the straight and narrow. I think I may have skipped one time and had to go back and read it. I keep a map of London handy and couldn't find Long Spoon Lane. It is either a fictional name or it was off my map. Nevertheless, I love the story. All of the characters have a part to play. I really did not want to put it down, but it was too long for me for one sitting. Ms. Perry has a way to build the suspense, solve the crime, and end the story in one fell swoop. That left me wanting for the next story. I can only hope that Pitt gets his job back. I am tired of the Special Branch and Narraway.
