This is an historical romance taking place in the 1940s. It's been a while since I've read it so I don't really remember too much about it. If you like Danielle Steel you will like this book.
This story takes place during WWII. It started out pretty good but the male figure is the most selfish man I have ever read about and the female is probably the most disgusting person I have read about. There is nothing romantic about these two as the story progresses. I kept hoping she'd get a spine and dump him but no she put up with the gross selfishness. GRRRR!
Very good book like all of her books.
good story, typical danielle steel
It was just before Christmas, 1940 and Kate Jamison makes her debut in New York City. She meets Joe, a flyer. But their lives are on 2 different tracks. They meet later on in life and they have to make a choice that will have profound consequences for them both.
another great danielle steele book
Love,fights,revenge.
Great for those lonely nights.
Debutante Kate Jamison meets dashing pilot Joe Allbright at a society party in New York on the eve of World War II. For both, it is love at first sight. At first, the war keeps Joe and Kate apart, and, after that, their differing ambitions seem to preclude their finding happiness together. But, over the course of three decades, as Joe builds an aviation empire and Kate forges her own life, these two maintain a unique bond and a unique romance--until the day that tragedy strikes. Steele's latest potboiler is set against the backdrop of the mid-20th century's most vibrant historical events.
Great characters WWII setting. The story moves along and keeps you wondering and turn the page to see if the couple will be together for keeps or not.
Its 1940, the war is raging. Kate Jamison makes her debut in New York. She meets Flying Ace Joe Albright and they fall in love. When the war is over Kate wants marriage, Joe wants to build airplanes
Against a vivid backdrop of war and thrilling innovation, D.Steel weaves a story that spans three decades of two intensely different people who, in spite of themselves, are irrevocable woven into the fabric of each others lives. It is a novel of extraorinary grace and compassion from a master story teller.
I loved this book. One of my favorite by Danielle Steel.
It was just before Christmas, 1940. The war is raging in Europe when Kate Jamison makes her debut in New York City. In a room filled with the scions of East Coast society, it is Joe Albright who catches Kate's eye. At twenty-nine, Joe is already a legend in flying circles. All Kate sees is a strikingly handsome man, at once awkward and larger-than-life. Joe, too, is caught off balance, seeing in Kate the soulmate he never expected to find. As the months pass, they will meet again, forging a bond that will set the course of both their lives. Kate will study at Radcliffe. Joe will skyrocket to fame in aviation. Joe's planes are his life, his passion. But he always comes back to Kate. Even after the long, dark years of World War II, Joe returns. Never willing to stay, always needing to fly away.
When the war is over, Kate wants marriage and a family. Joe wants the world, his limitless horizons, and the aviation empire he is building. Unwilling to wait any longer, Kate moves on. But when a chance encounter brings them together again, the time has finally come to make a choice that will have profound consequences for them both.

This is an audio book and it is a story of a love so great that it is truly unconditional, full of sacrifice and compromise, spanning over three decades. Four cassettes approximately 6 hours long.
I got this book in Hardcover so I decided to part with the paperback

This was probably another great Steele novel, but I had to give up on it about a third of the way through.
I don't really read her stuff. But, I figure a LOT of people do. So! Here it is.
