Children's Literature - Nancy Partridge
Arthur and Francine go head to head once again in this early-reader chapter book based on the PBS Arthur television show. They are paired up as a team at school for an oral report on heroism, which might have been fun-only Francine isn't speaking to Arthur after he says she looks like a marshmallow. They end up being accidentally locked in the library after it closes for the weekend. How will they work out their differences enough to get themselves out of this predicament? What they go through and learn gives them some lessons on heroism, and friendship, too. While the ideas are interesting, the writing style is bland. Arthur fans, however, will be able to use their imagination and enjoy themselves. The chapters are 5 or 6 pages long, with one illustration in each. This is book number 6 in the "Marc Brown Arthur Chapter Book Series."
