Superb. I love the brooding, atmospheric style of Banville and his somewhat unpredictable characters in 1950s Ireland. In this novel I learned a lot about the Jews of Ireland and connections between elements of the Irish establishment and the Nazis. Not only does Banville keep up the suspense during the commission and the solving of the crimes, he saves a delicious twist for the very end of the book.
