Oh, my word ~ I could not put this book down! I had my doubts about it for the first 30 pages or so, it seemed to start slowly, and almost pitched it. I'm really glad I didn't. The main character is a very clueless cook; one of her culinary specialities is toasting Pop Tarts. She is hired to write a culinary column for the paper she where she works, and is sent to a new restaurant known for it's steak and high prices to write a review. She doesn't like beef at all, so she orders a dish she thinks is chicken, which really is not. At all. The cast of characters are wonderful and I really cannot wait to continue reading more in the series.

Good new series. This book is author's first novel. Written pretty well. She does a good job mixing two plot lines. Although the books has recipes in the end the main character, Jordan is a Journalist and ends up writing food review column. Lots of room for growth.

Very good debut! A journalist trained in sports reporting ends up at a small newspaper writing personal ads. When the culinary columnist is injured, she steps in to review resturants and share recipes. One small problem. She doesn't cook. She also doesn't eat beef and her first assignment is a steak house. Such begins a madcap adventure. Add in the various odd occupants of her apartment building for a fun quirky read. 3.5 stars

"Liver Let Die" is the first in the Clueless Cook Mystery series. The story centers around Jordan McAllister who had dreams of becoming a sports columnist. Following a breakup with her boyfriend she finds herself living in Ranchero working at the Ranchero Globe writing personal ads. When she's asked to fill in as the culinary reporter for the newspaper the mystery begins.

Jordan has absolutely no idea how to cook and looks to the other tenants in her apartment building for help on creating recipes to include in her column. The cast of characters are amusing and sometimes laugh out loud funny.

There are actual two separate plot mysteries in the book and both will keep you guessing until the very end when it all ties up nicely.

I really enjoyed getting to know the various characters in the book and am looking forward to the next installment to see what craziness develops.

Now Jordan is the prime suspect, as well as the main course on the murder menu.

Good book! I liked the characters and it was plausible how Jordan gets involved with the mystery. I found myself really wanting to know what happened as I was reading. Definitely ordering the next from this series!
