In this story Lauren's twin sister Meg is missing and when she goes to find her she ends up falling for her newly married sister's hot and sexy step-son, Drew. Only there are a couple of problems. First, she's engaged to a very stable if uninspiring man. Second, someone is trying kill her after she is mistaken for Meg.

The plot of this story is really interesting and not your typical romance storyline, but there are few parts of it that really didn't work for me. I disliked how fast Lauren switched her affections from her fiancée to Drew. I also thought that Lauren and Drew's desire to find their missing family members, not to mention the threats to their life might have put a little more of a damper on their desire for each other. I just couldn't get past these two problems enough to really get into the story.

You may not want to go by what I say, as I don't usually read this genre. I read Starr Ambrose's first book because I read an article about the author in my small-town local newspaper. Ms Ambrose lives in the next town over, and her first book, "Lie to Me" takes place in our shared home state of Michigan. I was hoping for more of the same, but this book takes place in Washington, D.C., even though one of the main characters, Lauren, is from Lansing, MI. So there aren't many details about DC, naturally, and the Michigan connection is gone. I enjoyed the steamy attraction between the characters, but I felt the suspense plot portion of the book falls a little flat and I saw the "culprit" coming a mile away. The author is writing a sequel to her first book, so that may be better than this one, but I'm not as willing to risk my time after "Our Little Secret".
