This may be a timely book to highlight the evils of bullying but it didn't feel like rest of the Aurora Teagarden series I've enjoyed. It was darker than I expected a cozy to be and I felt worried about Aurora instead of getting lost in a happy escapist novel.
All the Little Liars by Charlaine Harris is the ninth book in the An Aurora Teagarden Mystery series. Aurora is back from her honeymoon and is settling into married life with Robin Crusoe in Lawrenceton, Georgia. They are both excited about Aurora's pregnancy (her library gives her a whole three weeks off for maternity leave). Aurora's half-brother, Phillip is staying with them. He could not stay with their father and hitchhiked from California to Georgia to get away from him. Things are going well until Aurora gets a call from Beth Finstermeyer. Phillip is out playing with her twins, but Beth has been unable to reach Josh and Joss. Aurora cannot reach Phillip on his cell phone. Then they hear that Liza Scott, eleven years old, is also missing. The four kids were last seen at the soccer field. When the police check the soccer field, they find a body. What happened at the soccer field? Aurora starts asking questions and delving into each families lives. Then they hear that Clayton Harrison, the town's charming teen bad boy, has disappeared. Is his disappearance related to the other kids? Someone knows the answers, and Aurora is determined to get the answers.
All the Little Liars does not fit in with the other books in this series. The book is slow paced and the mystery plays out even slower rate. The mystery can be solved very easily (I was hoping for a real challenge). Aurora being in the early stages of her pregnancy is experiencing morning sickness. We get to hear about her throwing up (in too much detail). It was disgusting and totally unnecessary. I give All the Little Liars 3 out of 5 stars. All the Little Liars felt more like a rough draft, than a finished novel. I found that information was repeated and there are a couple of inconsistencies. I hope Ms. Harris will be back on her game with the next book in An Aurora Teagarden Mystery series.

The mood of this series has changed remarkably, from the light-hearted cozies at the beginning to the more serious, family-related issues of the day. School bullying, child abuse, extra-indulgent parenting and teen suicide make this one kind of bleak. I guessed the villain as soon as he/she/it was mentioned, but I'm sure this book wasn't intended as a classic whodunit. Still have the cozy mystery hallmarks of what Roe's wearing, what she's cooking, what her hair looks like. I could have done with fewer descriptions of Roe throwing up, actually. Still, it kept me reading straight through, and even if there is a happy ending for Roe there were left a lot of unhappy families in the town.

Aurora Teagarden is overjoyed when she discovers that she is pregnant. She happily shares the news with her husband and her younger brother, Phillip, who lives with them. But the next day Aurora's world comes crashing down. Four teenagers have gone missing, including Phillip. They were last seen at an after-school function. When the body of another teenager is discovered, Aurora fears Phillip may be dead too. The police are searching, but the clues are few and far between. As time goes by with no word, Aurora and her husband, author Robin Crusoe, begin searching for the kids on their own.
It's been many years since I read Charlaine Harris' Aurora Teagarden series. Now she is adding new books to the series which I think is a great idea. This cozy mystery was well written and fun to read. I did guess the villain, but not the reason for the kids disappearance. My rating: 4 Stars.

After a 10 year hiatus from Aurora Teagarden's life, this book did not disappoint!
