A fun read... great characters and the twist you think is coming, doesn't. The characters twist a a different direction.

If you enjoy the Shopaholic series, you'll enjoy this as well.

I LOVED this story! It is chick lit/romance, but it is so sumptuous to read. Fabulous clothes, lingerie, evenings out and a crazy wedding. Browne is a genius with words, at least, in making books delicious to read, by her excellent word choice.

This is a chocolate bonbon of a book. A naive but fun protagonist, lots of brand-name dropping, clothes, romance, good friends, hilariously disfunctional family . . .it's just fun.

First book that I have read from this author and although it is long (480 pages), it is well worth the read. Melissa is what we call an administrative assistant who gets laid off (or "sacked" in the U.K.) who decides to start her own agency offering assistance to men who need help with organizing their lives up to and including being a date. Not an escort, mind you. Her business name is Honey and Honey is everything Melissa is not. The two function well until Honey/Melissa falls in love. Light romance, lots of great character development. I will read the other books in this series since I liked this one so much.

I have never read from this author before, but I will be following her more closely. I have already started on the 2nd book of this series, "Little Lady, Big Apple". Hester Browne writes in a fun and whimsical manner. Overall, this book was a great read!

When I purchased this book I was only slightly interested, I just needed something to read on a rather long car trip. Less than 20 minutes into it, I was no longer paying attention to anyone else in the car and breezed through this book in only a couple of days.

A great read for any Brit Chick Lit fans!

I enjoyed reading this book. Clever plot twists keep it from becoming a "girl from right side of tracks falls into prostitution" story. The characters are likable and it is a funny read!

Bleh. No great ending. The main character was rather spineless, and the author doesn't seem to want to give her a backbone, even at the finish. Then it turns out that the happy ending you think there may be at the end, is disrupted in the next book. I see others liked this more, but I found it not that funny, steamy or worth it to read the next one.

I LOVE these books. They are fun and witty. The characters are lovable. Nelson is great. They are a fast read and the concept of a little lady agency is just great. I am glad she wrote more than one book for this series

Melissa Romney-Jones is underappreciated in her time. She has amazing organization skills that are exceptionally underutilized in her job, and this fact is confirmed when she is fired out of the blue. Not that it comes to a huge surprise for Melissa. After all, shes pretty used to being fired by now.

The firing however comes at a very bad time for her. Melissas sister is getting married and Melissa had a goal of being able to pay off her debt to her overbearing, nasty father by that time, and now with no job that prospect is looking pretty grim.

After meeting an old school chum at a bar by chance, Melissa has a job prospect but quickly realizes it is not what she expected. Realizing that she could do this job much better than her school chum and in a lessillegal way, she decides to take the plunge and opens her own business, The Little Lady Agency. She only had to sell her car, buy a wig, pretend to be someone shes not, and fall head over heels for one of her clientsmaybe her skills as an organizer are limited after all. Melissa soon finds out that while shes genius at organizing others lives shes not so great at organizing her own.

The Little Lady Agency sounded intriguing from the back cover, so I decided to give it a shot. I have to say I wasimpressed with Brownes writing style. While I liked the main character Melissa very much, there were times when I just wanted to slap her and scream: get with it sister! For someone who is so organized and well-meaning Melissa is naïve, over-trusting, and exceptionally simplistic at times. As much as Little Lady Agency was about Melissa finding love, it was as much about learning a life lesson, that she has control over her own future.

Overall, I found Brownes characters exceptionally deep for chicklit, and I cannot wait to read the sequel to find out what happens to Melissa, Jonathan, and The Little Lady Agency.

The first chapter tells pretty much everything there is to know about Melissa Romney-Jones aka Honey. Graduated from art school Melissa's a reliable, sensible, shy, insecure person, failing at her jobs. She's a domestic goddess, the nice girl next door always looking on the bright side.
Then there ist her other side, Honey. A blond whigged whirlwind in silmk stockings, married 15 times with over fity men she'd dated.
That´s what the book is about.

Melissa lost her job at an estate agency and receives a business card of a former teacher who's running a "temping agency" which pretty fast emerges to be an upmarket escort agency. After the second date ends with a punch into the males face an idea is born: The Little Lady Agency.
You need a girlfriend to present at your company's festivities, a woman pretending to be your wife ? Someone to organize a party or your life ? A personal makeover ? All is available at The Little Lady Agency. Everything except Sex.

When Melissa's or better Honey's business begins to run she goes disguised to a party arranged by her former employee. There she meets Jonathan Riley, the American new managing director from New York. Not thinking much he gives him his business card and the next day he calls her for help and an absolutely, predictable story unfolds not spearing the reader an easy happy missing some twist and turns.

This was my very first excursion into the chick lit genre. If it weren´t for someone else I probably would have never read the book and it feels like expected: Lots of chocolate, lots of inseurity on the female side, lots of corniness.
However, Hester Browne created a very likeable, sweet character in Melissa and her two friends. She stays a bit on the surface of the british etiquette and I so wished she would have gone deeper into this but as for the American character in the book she might have loosened the etiquette.
I'm unsure if a chick lit has to be funny, as for that, I didn't find anything funny. The book´s probably good in the chick lit genre but but for me, the mystery-thriller freak it's just too much above the surface.

I loved this! Written with a great sense of adventure and humor. I like that it's a series and I've already ordered book 2, can't wait to get it. I love Brit Chic Lit and this is right up my alley.

This was a fun read and very British. I had to look up several words to see what they referred to. But the story is fun with starting with Melissa getting sacked at her job as a redundancy when another company takes over the estate agency. And how she tries and succeeds at her own agency and find romance and validation at Honey. But her family is terribly mean to her and she triumphs over all the slights in the end.

I loved the idea of this book. A young woman needs money, and has organizing skills and social skills. So she starts a business where she helps people, mostly men, with life issues. She helps them shop, or get a new wardrobe, or she poses as a girlfriend to get the mother off the man's back, etc. She does NOT have sex with her clients. Along the way, she learns to deal with her family more successfully. I loved the idea and many of the characters, but the book did drag in spots, and could have been shortened to be a much better book.

Debut romantic comedy starring the conservative Melissa and her blonde bombshell alter ego 'Honey'. Both characters are charming, smart and lovable. Read the book to find out how the two characters evolve and merge and resolve themselves. Original and sparkling !

First book by this author and it is great! Once I got started reading, I didn't want to put it down and by the middle of the book I practically couldn't! Very likable characters (with some dastardly ones too) and a heroine who gets to know herself as the story unfolds. Great story with some twists so the reader isn't entirely certain how everything will turn out.

Hilarious and warmhearted, this book is deliciously addictive. Romantic comedy, Melissa romey-Jones gets fired (again) she she decides to market her impeccable docial skills to single men. She puts on a blonde wig and becomes 'honey' a no nonsense bombshell who helps clueless bachelors shop, entertain, and navigate social minefields, she even attends parties if the clinet needs a 'date'.
You'll love this book and may stay up until 2 am reading it!

I just could not put it down! I am so glad there are three in this series. If you enjoyed the Confessions of a Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella, you will also like this book series. I ready them all quickly, save time and order all three together if you loved Shopaholic series. Honey is making all the same terrible choices but somehow makes it through every mess.

Not one of my favorites. I think I read it too soon after the Shopaholic series. It didn't have enough to keep me interested. It seemed a pale comparison to Sophie K's books.
