This is the beginning of the Little House series; Martha is Laura Ingalls' great-grandmother. She is growing up in Glencaraid, Scotland, the daughter of Laird Glencaraid. It's a fascinating account of life in Scotland in 1788, told in the "Little House" tradition. A great read.
