A Little Hope and A Quiet Life, both written by Ethan Joella, made me feel so many emotions. I listened to them on audio in close proximity to each other so their poignant stories are fused together in my mind.

Both novels are quiet and character-driven, inhabited by 'people' I'd like to know in real life. As they process various forms of grief while living their lives, the quotidian details and small decisions accumulate to profoundly impact each other and their futures. I ended each book with a smile on my face and tears in my eyes.

Ethan Joella described his books as "feel good, feel deep" and I wholeheartedly agree. After watching online interviews with him, it's obvious he's as genuine as his characters. I'm eager to read whatever he writes next, but I'll try to be patient because good things are worth the wait.
