I did not really enjoy this book. Glad to be done. I did not realize Brooke was so tied to her mom. Granted she worked from childhood and followed moms rules but at some point the apron stings need to be cut. I hope Brooke is able to find peace and happiness now with the family she has made...

I was looking forward to reading this book, but somehow I found it very uninspiring! I understand that she was trying to "help" her alcoholic mother (being the daughter of alcoholic parents I can relate), but someone at some point should have gotten that girl some help! Where was her Dad in all of that?

Three stars. I grew up with Brooke and wanted for quite a while to read this book. Iloved her book about her post partum depression, and had hoped this book would be written the same way. There were parts where she droned on and on... I tried not to skim! But I thought, what is your point here? we are not your therapists! You love her, you hate her, that I understand, but so many un needed details! There were times, my eyes filled with tears, as I also have had a troubling relationship with a mother, and wanted more than she could give- those were the parts of the book I could relate to. But near the end when there were pages and pages of descriptions of decorating a house... un necessary. Worth a read, but make sure you have enough time set aside to get through the difficult descriptions.
