I've been a fan of Joshilyn Jackson since early in her career when she wrote women's fiction set in the South. There's a thread of mystery in all of her plots, but I was very surprised when she wrote her first suspense/thriller in 2019. With My Little Eye is her third thriller, and it will be the last book of hers I plan to read.

Meribel Mills, an aging actress, has a stalker that mails her disturbing notes. When she lands an acting gig in Atlanta, it provides a great reason for her and her teen daughter Honor to leave California, and hopefully her stalker, for awhile. But Honor is neurodivergent so change is hard, and soon the bizarre notes reeking of fruit-scented marker show up at their new apartment. Will Meribel ever feel safe again?

I'm not going to provide any more detail about the plot because it's too crazy to summarize. It's unevenly paced - so slow for much of the novel, and then all of the action happens in the last 20 percent. The story is told from (too) many points of view which was hard to track. Honor was the only character I could cheer for.

If you want to read this author's work, I recommend Gods in Alabama or The Almost Sisters.

Thank you to William Morrow and NetGalley for the review copy of this novel.
