Usually I don't like to read short essays because I feel like I want the evolution of a narrative when I'm reading a book, but this is a wonderful exception. The powerful (and very short) stories shared by the "real" people in these pages through the Story Corps project provide evidence for the goodness of humanity. Some touch on historical moments (interment camps, Hurricane Katrina) and others on everyday instances of grace (prayer in the ER, falling in love). Some brought tears to my eyes and all left me in a more thoughtful mood than when I picked up the book.

This is a fabulous book of people telling their own stories, and shedding light on their lives from war to work to family.

A wonderful collection of interviews from the much loved StoryCorps Project on NPR. Each is just a page or two long but filled with emotion. Everyone has a story - what are the stories in your family, on your block, in your community? Definately recommend - especially good as bedside reading.
