This book follows a little girl and her family who are migrant farm workers. They move around to follow the crops. They work hard and are not treated well. In one place they move into a chicken coop. She expresses her feelings about dealing with her hard life. To get through the hard times she remembers her grandmother's love and Christmas traditions back in Mexico. The author does a great job of describing how the girl is feeling.
