Made it to almost half-way through. Fabulous worldbuilding. I loved the idea that nation-states would be replaced by not only corporations (which, let's face it is SO last century!), but also by revivals of old-fashioned monarchies, anarcho-libertarian constructs, and even hobbyists. And "families" would become collectives of like-minded individuals--choice rather than birth. But Palmer drops us in the middle of this (again, fine with me) and expects us to immediately care about what's at stake. There's too much going on in the world-building to be able to get any purchase on the "small stuff" of what matters to any individual character.
