I can't praise this book enough! Emotionally rich, well plotted, fully developed characters, insights into a key cultural conflict (Indians vs. whites in Northern Minnesota in the 1950s), surprise ending and nice writing, never overdone. Highly recommended whether or not you've read other books by Krueger.
First I'll say---I did not finish this book
Huge disappointment! I have loved this series and all the characters but this one? goes back to when Cork was 12 years old, it's a 'coming of age' story between him and his father and all the Indian lore
The Indian lore was very interesting but I got very tired of trying to move the story forward with all the 'lore' and all the descriptions and I mean descriptions of everything even the kitchen sink
Not my kind of reading, more on the boring side than anything else
Sad to give it a low rating but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone
