Carol leaves her marriage in the middle of the night. She left behind her alcoholic cop husband after his irresponsibility lead to the death of their six YO daughter. Twenty four years later, on their daughter's birthday, her ex shows up and asks a huge favor. He's dying from a brain tumor and wants to fulfill a promise they made to their daughter. Still reeling from the death of her second husband months earlier, she reluctantly agrees. A tale of forgiveness, letting go of the past, reflection and moving forward. Touching story. Loved this quote: "You know what's depressing? Standing at the finish line and realizing there's no going back. There's no do-overs. When it's done, it's done. I had everything. I had the world in my hands, and I pissed it away. You have no idea how much I wish I could go back."
