Great book. He has such a wonderful sense of humor and "everyday guy" persona. Bryson's writing is always engaging and easy to read. I liked it so much it may be one of those rare books I actually read again.

Bill Bryson has such a way with words. He can take a place I never lived in and a time I never lived through and make me feel right at home there. He's absolutely hilarious and I love taking these "trips" with him in this book and his travel writing too!
I haven't read this book for a number of years now, but I can still remember specific passages that make me laugh out loud :)

I wasn't able to enjoy this book as I'd anticipated. I'm only figuring it was because he was writing about a time in my life remembered well and my annoyance in being dragged back there again.

I just couldn't get into the warm fuzzies he wrote about with such affection. My attention kept wandering elsewhere.

What a great way to reminisce! I could relate to so much of what he was talking about! The 50's were the best!

I couldn't put this book down. It was informative, concise, touching and very very funny. I was sad when it was over and it made me want to pick up more Bill Bryson books.
