Summary: Susanne Lasko barely getting buy in a dump (paying her rent late) after her marriage ended & her mind never fully recovered (so doing her work becomes overwhelming) from a car wreck has begun resorting to stealing from her ailing mom (and feeling bad about it) when she goes to an intervies & meets Nadia Trenkler both women are intrigued by how much either could pass for the others twin. Soon the wealthy Nadia hires Susanne to pose as her for a weekend so Nadia can slip off for a weekend tryst. After this 1st ruse works splendidly, Nadia keeps paying Susanne for repeat performances (though Nadias husband Michael -- with whom she barely interacts starts to suspect something is off about his wife). Of course, much more is going on than Susanne realizes including the shady investor Nadias been tricking who wants back some money she took until Nadias disappearance after which a shaken Susanne continues the ruse anywayto the dramatic and scary finale.

Review: Hammesfahr convincingly contrasts the 2 women's worlds so readers believe this deception can keep working as pages turn quickly (with The Guardian) and that this tale full of clever and surprising twists is very suspenseful and a dark delight. (with Publ Weekly
