Letters to Solovine - Wisdom Library Author:Albert Einstein Here is the intimate personal correspondence from Albert Einstein to his long time friend Maurice Solovine. The letters record thoughts and observations about science, politics, philosophy and religion, as well as things slightly less monumental. This extraordinary and heretofore unpublished collection offers a rare private glimpse of a very pub... more »lic and extraordinary man.
In this narrative, Einstein writes to Solovine about his financial straits, the rigors of earning a living, getting older, the changing neighborhood, difficult research, and their spartan lifestyle.
The letters, begun in 1906, conclude in 1955. More than thirty years later they remain provocative, often funny, sometimes painful. Taken together they mirror the changes, large and small, that occurred in Einstein's life during the half century in which these remarkable letters with Solovine were exchanged.
All of the letters in this edition include facsimiles of Einstein's original letters, some type-written but many in Einstein's own handwriting, in German, with English translations on the facing pages.
This edition also includes an insightful introduction by the recipient of the letters, Maurice Solovine himself.« less
